Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position.
With the explosive development of technology and science, people pay more attention to relation between ecology and society. The speaker claims that the society should not sacrifice the money and jobs to save the endangered animals or plant species. Admittedly, it is important to contribute the money to social development. However, every creature has the value of existence and we cannot deprive of their right to live.
Admittedly, it seems unnecessary for human to save the endangered species at a great cost in money and jobs from the perspective of selfcost. And human could use the enormous financial and physical resource to assist people in need and produce more jobs to relieve the employment pressure. So we could improve the living standard and have a more comfortable life. Additionally, even though human take measures to protect some species, they still have the possibility to extinct because of the natural competition.
However, human should be responsible for their damage to species. As the advanced technology improves the life of human, it also increases the capacity of human to interfere and damage the natural environment, which threaten the habitat and food of the animal or plant. Such as Qinhai-Tibet railway in China, the build of the railway has destroyed so many forests and lawns that causes the extinction of many species. Moreover, it also endanger human ourselves with annihilation of some species. Such as the depopulation of frogs as a result of pesticides, the number of pests is increasing, such as mosquito and fly which influence the life and production of human. Unless human spend financial and physical power to take efficacious measures for protecting the endangered species, the harmful effect on human would aggravate and jeopardize human in the end.
Actually, all creatures have its right to live and their existence helps to build a balance of ecology. And they contribute to the human prosperity directly or indirectly. For instance, some species have the potential value for scientific research, such asthe cure for a cancer or studying the relationship between different organisms. And we human should not neglect the awe and responsibilities for other lifes for the immediate benefits.
In summary, though human should pay attention to the social development and obtain a better environment for human living, it should not ignore the ecological balance and we should also save the endangered species out of the respect to life and the protection for human benefits.作者: 普渡哥 时间: 2012-5-7 22:59
