The Chicago and Calumet (Rivers originally flowed into the St. Lawrence by way of Lake Michigan, but having been redirected by constructing) canals so that the water now empties into the Mississippi by way of the Illinois River.

(A) Rivers originally flowed into the St. Lawrence by way of Lake Michigan, but having been redirected by constructing
(B) Rivers had originally flowed into the St. Lawrence by way of Lake Michigan, but they have been redirected by constructing
(C) Rivers, which originally flowed into the St. Lawrence by way of Lake Michigan but have been redirected by the construction of

有人说n + having done  不可以当做限定性修饰    ABCD 很好排除 。。。啥意思？

还有～语法笔记上写：But后面绝不能跟having. but可做连词，副词，不能做介词，后面不可能跟having这种形式哦，有的时候跟动词原形是因为省略了主语
所以。。but后面到底能加啥？我又迷惑了。。。

having done 可以做非限定性修饰，不能做限定性修饰。
夸克的语法大全里面明确写出 having done 做限定性修饰是错误的：
The perfective aspect cannot usually be expressed in the finite clause:
wrong: The man having won the race is my brother.
correct: The man who has won the race is my brother.

可以做非限制修饰，如下：
Neuroscientists, having amassed a wealth of knowledge over the past twenty years about the brain and its
development from birth to adulthood, are now drawing solid conclusions about how the human brain
grows and how babies acquire language.

关于but到底怎么用，建议你自己在OG上搜索关于but的例句，but是个很常用的词，句子很多。

谢谢～！！我明白了have done的点，但是用这个点在这题中只能排除bc呀？
那but后面为什么不能加having呢？

but作为连词，前后结构要对称呀·或者说你把省略的部分补全，看结构是否正确

顶一下、其实用语义理解but最好做题了、og题目的解释很多都提到要理解前后关系、注意语义 要effectively and correctly

关于but，最简单的方法就是看标点符号，如果之前没有逗号，那么but后的谓语必须有平行对象，必须是表示主句主语的另一个平行的动作；如果有逗号，那么but必须有一套自己的主谓，可以不与之前的句子平行，且如果主语相同，主语也可以省。D项，你看，那个逗号如果理解为插入语的逗号，那么原句就是the XXX river but having...明显句子结构都不完整；如果那个逗号是新起一套主谓的话，也没有谓语，逗号之前的部分也没有谓语。
笔记上说不跟having是表面现象，其实质就是我讲的这个。如果跟having，那么要么前一句要有having与之平行作谓语，结果导致两个句子都没有谓语；要么后一句没有谓语，或是无法与前一句平行对等。
