比如这个例子。这样的插入语和逗号隔开的插入语有什么区别呢

个人感觉破折号里的东西可以完全忽略，直接跳过，丝毫不影响句子结构

嗯。

刚才在manhatten 上找到，破折号就是着重强调的逗号，分号，冒号。

看了这里又是强调了，强调突出了这个插入语。

请问 d 选项中的those 是指代his works？我怎么觉得应该是translated works? 指代works 为什么还需要those 作指代？是因为离主语太远了么？

没想到有人在我这里问问题呀。我答答看。不对，请指出呀。
those只是指代works, 但是不能限定works就是his的，而仅仅是指代works这一个词。
第二点，those 和that 还有一个问题，他们不能单独出现，必须要和名词在一起出现，可以that +noun, 也可以that of noun. （those是that的复数形式，自己转换一下就好了。）尤其，第二点those of/ that of 经常作为一种句子变型，出现在比较句中。
关于你的问题，
those应该是和his works 对应的，你说的translated works, 它位于插入语的位置，不应该算作句子主要成分，those指代也就无从谈起。
2.为什么要用those指代？句子成分需要，不希望出现单词出现，这样会重复，让人读起来笨笨的。下面这两个句子，你读读看，是不是这个感觉。
A：his works—translated into more than 30 languages—are produced more often than those of any other contemporary German dramatist.
B: his works—translated into more than 30 languages—are produced more often than works of any other contemporary German dramatist.
