题目释义：The discovery ….has doubled the number of…

考点：逻辑表达

1）名词的表达形式，如果动词本身有名词表达式，则不用+ing的形式表示名词；同时，动名词强调动作，只能和动名词并列，不能和强调结果的名词并列。

2）注意逻辑表达是否合理。

选项分析: (A)excavating不好，在表达一件已经完成的事情的时候，除非这个动词没有-tion的形式，一般都用-tion的形式，(如excavation),而不用doing的形式(如excavating)，doing强调动作；that引导名词性从句逻辑和语法上都没有什么问题，只是不够简洁。

(B)主谓不一致，如果figurines做主语，在未划线部分的谓语动词has应为复数。

(C)discoveringàdiscovery; excavatingàexcavation

(D)用非限定性定语从句修饰，改变原句含义；excavatingàexcavation

(E)Correct；discovery可以作double的主语.

小菜有2个问题~

1， 对于A，that引导的名词性从句~我记得prep有说过，that引导的饿名词性从句的谓语单复数要有后面的宾语决定~那么对于A，是不是可以理解为has是由后面的the number 决定的？

2，对于D，非限定性定从~ 我不太理解这里的A和D在语义上有什么区别，D怎么就改变了原句含义，麻烦nn把这两句话的中文写出来让小菜我学习一下，谢谢啦O(∩_∩)O

Subject Phrases and Clauses: Always Singular
Sometimes the subject of a sentence is an -Ing phrase or even a whole clause. This sort of
subject is always singular and requires a singular verb form.

Having good friends .IS a wonderful thing.
The subject is the singular phrase having good friends, not the plural noun friends.

Whatever they want to do is fine with me.
The subject is the clause whatever they want to do, which is considered singular.

所以直接单数就行了，那条我也看到过，不是很懂

2.首先抛开逻辑意思对不对，D项主语就是 ceramic dog figurines是复数，主谓都不一致
 改过来看逻辑意思
A.That twenty-one ceramic dog figurines were discovered during the excavating has nearly doubled the number of these artifacts known to exist.

E.The discovery of twenty-one ceramic dog figurines during the excavation  has nearly doubled the number of these artifacts known to exist.
A和E是说发现F这件事情使得····数量翻倍

Ceramic dog figurines, twenty-one of which were discovered during excavating  have nearly doubled the number of these artifacts known to exist.

D是说 F 这个东西 使得····数量翻倍

谢谢suri哈，可我还是对问题2有疑问~
在你翻译的A与D的比较里，suri貌似没有将非限定性定从翻译出来，这是为什么呢~是说“因为这是非限定性定从，所以就不是句子的主体，所以就可以忽略，这样一来D就不忠实原意了？”

原句是说 F的发现导致····
而不是D表达的  F导致

先纠正你一点，别瞎叫大牛，我真心不是，你叫我小菜就好O(∩_∩)O哈！~
这里呢，不能说是discovery 可以double， 而是“discovery of twenty-one ceramic dog figurines during the excavation ”这一件事，使得现存的artifact 的数量加倍了~~  单独一个discovery硬说double确实是很奇怪的~~
