190.By showing that South Africa does not have a free market and is in fact a kind of collectivist welfare state for Whites only, Sowell argues that American conservatives have no valid ideological grounds to be in sympathy with the Pretoria regime.

(A) to be in sympathy with

(B) to sympathize with

(C) for sympathizing with

(D) that they should sympathize withC

(E) that they should have sympathy for

I can't find any mistake in (B). Is there any difference between "to" and "for" in this question? Sorry for my stupid question.

                         thanks : )

1. be grounds for doing sth.

2. have grounds to do sth.

ground~for sth/doing sth/to do sth

Eg,  1 They had no grounds to arrest him

2 Her claim was disallowed on the grounds that she had not paid her premium

究竟have grounds to do sth.

似乎应该是have grounds to do sth.

 be grounds for....

我查了牛津,只有grounds for sth和on the ground of sth的用法。
