选B的话，句意就变成了

In 1527 King Henry VIII sought to have his marriage to Queen Catherine annulled and so (KHVIII's effort to seek to annul his marriage) could be married to Anne Boleyn.

也可以理解成

In order to annul his marriage with Queen Catherine, in 1527 King Henry VIII thought of marrying to Anne Boleyn.

这改变了句意。

谢谢你的回答。你的意思是：and 前面的句子表原因，so是“所以”，表结果吗？关于这个句子的结构还是不懂， and在这里做连词，连接两个句子吗？如果是这样，那so如果表“所以”，则只是连接一个从句，就是fragment了。

B中,SO不是表示所以，而是表示指代。

选E so that的意味是 ==> 他离婚后就可以就和别人结婚了。
选B so的意味是 ==> 他离婚了，所以他可以和别人结婚了。

也就是说，E是表结果状语，B是表因果关系。OG解释的意味是，结果状语和因果关系并不同，可以说做完A后，它可以去干B。但是，不能强加因果。这也是so that和so的不同之处
