首先， besides , except , 跟 except for , 三者是不能互換的。
besides 意思如同in addition to , 是"加" 的概念 She loves many guys besides me. 除了我之外她還愛很多人 (me included )
except 則是"減"的概念. She loves many guys except me. 她愛很多人，除了我。 ( me excluded )
except for 也是"減" 的概念 但不同於 except , except for 是用來排除不同類的事務，而except 是用來排除同類事務。 She loves many guys except me . me 被排除，me 跟many guys 同類，都是人。
She loves me except for my pants. 他愛我，除了我的褲子。 pants 被排除，pants 跟me 不同類，一個是東西一個是人，所以用except for .
excepting 跟except 的不同在於 "有" 或"沒有" 的概念
