标题: OG VERBAL SC18
18. Except for a concert performance that the composer
himself staged in 1911, Scott Joplin’s ragtime opera
Treemonisha was not produced until 1972, sixty-one
years after its completion.
(A) Except for a concert performance that the
composer himself staged
(B) Except for a concert performance with the
composer himself staging it
(C) Besides a concert performance being staged by
the composer himself
(D) Excepting a concert performance that the
composer himself staged
(E) With the exception of a concert performance
with the staging done by the composer himself
Excepting usually appears in negative
constructions; it is not the correct idiom in
this sentence.

eg:
Bruce answered all the questions excepting the last one--ok
Bruce did not answer any question expecting the last one--here "expecting" is used to perface a positive construction. not ok

besides 意思如同in addition to ,  是"加" 的概念
She loves many guys besides me.

She loves many guys except me. ( me excluded )

She loves many guys except me . me 被排除,me 跟many guys 同類,都是人。

She loves me except for my pants.

The man killed all people in the room excepting Tom. (Tom

The man did not kill any people in the room except Tom.  (Tom

總結,a concert performance 跟 Treemonisha 不同類,所以用except for
