补充一下，我的意思是除比较介词短语外，仅仅比较后面的名词为什么不对？
1,介词补充原则,为避免歧义,一般来说要补出后一个介词短语的介词,不能省略.比如这里如果不加at,那你到底是拿over...跟a series比,还是拿suface跟series比?
2.就算你是suface和series比,那两个名词就是介词over的并列宾语了,那 over a series不对啊,要用at.
3.比较前后形式应尽量保持一致.前是介词短语,后也应该是介词短语.

the contact, and hence the bonding这个句子的语法结构是什么，“,and”连接的应该是个并列的句子，是否可以理解为

说明，1）hence可以直接带名词，无需只带句子。
2）由上两句看，and hence 的用法应该像 lypwilliam 说的 就好像：A，alsoB，is……这种感觉 谓语不受 and hence 修饰词组的影响，仍用单数型式。

因为and是一个插入语啊, 如果你要问为什么是插入语而不是并列:
如果是并列, 就不应该用逗号把and...封闭起来, 因为两个名词的并列是不用逗号, 而直接用and连的
