(D) should there be no testimony from some other doctor
(E) lacking another doctor to testify

why in choice a ,lack of is unidiomatic??

og解释如下:

choice a also introduces the unidiomatic phrase lack of some other doctor.

这我知道,他重心出了错误,但og强调的是lack of unidiomatic,

if you were right, OG should not emphasize that lack of is unidiomatic, right?

正确的搭配应该是some...some other...吧.(A的doctor是不是该用复数啊)

顺便说一下,标准书面语中there be表示自然存在.医生自然存在不大合逻辑啊

如果没有逗号，lacking直接修饰damage, 所以逻辑错误。如OG所说,

Choice E introduces a dangling modifier: the lacking... phrase cannot logically modify damage, the nearest noun.

如果有逗号，那么lacking可以认为是分词修饰主语。但是这里有两个问题，

1. 距离主语太远，中间有damage, 还是会造成歧义。

2. 没有lack sb to do sth这种用法。lack后面直接加sth。

见longman的解释:

1 [transitive] to not have something that you need, or not have enough of it
- Alex's real problem is that he lacks confidence.

2. not lack for something
formal, to have a lot of something
- He does not lack for critics.

对于lack of的用法，我也有很多疑问。

但是这里撇开lack of不谈，some other doctor应该是不正确的说法吧？应该用another吧？

所以概括来说,lack为动词是的用法有lack for,lack sth.而作为名词是为lack of sth,此时lack是不可数名词

个人觉得lacking也好，without也好，本题里都是条件状语，表示缺少了这个条件，这件事情就做不好。翻译过来：“病人在缺少医生帮忙作证的情况下，就不能证明医疗事故。”

怎么大家（包括OG）会认为修饰名词做定语啊？修饰名词怎么讲得通？如果修饰patient的话，就成了“缺少医生帮忙作证的病人”，awkward么？如果修饰damage，就是“缺少医生帮忙作证而造成的损失”。

？？？
