答案选D，我选的C，答案解释说c 中but……可能产生修饰前句because的歧义，然后D 构成了be not……but (be)的结构。

可是not……but ……不是构成并列了么，那样应该是 are not A, but B 才对啊，为什么是 are not A, but are B 呢？？而且没看出来C选项的歧义额

求高人指导指导指导啊

因为和not隔开太远，已经构成一个独立的分句了，but作为连词，只能和前面某个成分共用一个主语
