170. The proposal to hire ten new police officers in Middletown is quite foolish. There is sufficient funding to pay
the salaries of the new officers, but not the salaries of additional court and prison employees to process the
increased caseload of arrests and convictions that new officers usually generate.
Which of the following, if true, will most seriously weaken the conclusion drawn above?

可以理解答案选E, 但是D为什么不对呢？

既然not all arrests result in convictions, and not all convictions result in prison.可不可以说police officer的增加不一定导致additional court and prison employees呢？

记得前人说CR只由一个正确答案，请问D是什么类型的错误？

D等于什麽都没说，即按照D，增加OFFICERS会与不会增加arrests and convictions 的可能性是一样的。它没有倾向性，没有使原文的结论的成立的可能性变小。故不起WEAKEN作用，当然也不起支持作用。

就是帮助NEW POLICE OFFICERS进行之后的一系列工作的SUPPORT STAFFS。

这里是说有钱PAY NEW POLICE OFFICERS 而无钱PAY 那些相关的SUPPORT STAFFS。
