标题: Duke Vs. Tuck?
got offer from Duke, waitlisted by Tuck. Should I follow up with Tuck?

Tuck Pros:
I love Tuck mainly because Tuck offers a dual-degree program with J.F Kennedy School of Government, where I might have networking opportunity with some top Chinese officers, who might be of help for my future company, any company.

Tuck Cos:
Small Chinese alumni base.

Duke Pros:
I love Duke because large Chinese Duke alumni base in the future. Duke is constructing a new campus in Kunshan (near Shanghai). The new campus will focus on Executive training, so I will be able to reach out more elite Chinese alumni to facilitate my career and company in the future. As I plan to run my own healthcare company in China in the future, choosing Duke could 1) offset the small Chinese alumni base that faced by all U.S MBA programs and 2) potential able to get first-hand commercialization opportunity in healthcare if I have a good network in Duke.

Duke Cons: 1) Not belong to Ivy League(I don’t know if this matters).

Ivy league doesn't really matter here. Stanford is not in ivy league, but no one denies that it's on the top. Brown is an ivy, but did you ever see its name appears on the b-school ranking?

Duke的在US News上综合排名是No. 10，是不是ivy已经没太大关系了……

Stanford is Ivy Plus, man
Duke is arguably Ivy Plus too.

Tuck是个好学校，留美的话。个人认为Tuck现状总体比Fuqua略强。

但选校从来都是一个主要考虑FIT的事情，你要抓中国人中国市场、你要做health care，那我会说DUKE是你的不二选择。原因你自己已经陈述了。你不妨试着接触一下两边的资深校友，聊聊看。

Tuck waitlists a lot of people every year (it's a quite small program). You should try to get off the waitlist 1st, then decide. Have you gotten into the kennedy school? if not you will need to apply in your 1st yr of mba and admissions is definitely NOT guaranteed.

You need to keep in mind that Tuck isn't extremely well-known in China and doing a 3 yr dual degree might mess up your internship/recruiting timeline

In my humble opinion, healthcare + international business ----> duke fuqua

和HKS的concurrent degree可以在过去后第一年申请的，不一定要在申请MBA的时候同时申请（与HBS的joint degree除外）。

I seriously think you will not get off the waitlist from Tuck due to the huge application pool...

With all due respect to Brown, but if people have to pick an ivy league school as such an example, it has to be it.

rinceton is one of the top-notch ivy, not really suitable for this scenario.

其实国内MBA真还是M7比较好吃香，这两所半斤八两吧。

+1. 回国，而且是health care领域的话，自然要选duke了。另外回国的话，ivy league影响力就不大了，何况duke今年US NEWS综合排名还比达摩高一名呢~

排名没有太大意义，unc,gtown，emory和后面的olin什么的差了一二名，实际差了有半个档次，排名看得出来么？就是usnews，bw把booth，kellogg排第一，会有人认为hbs不是第一么

我喜欢Duke 中国人多，但也喜欢Tuck 跟肯尼迪学院的合办项目。貌似Tuck 去IB 的几率高一些？我不指望去华尔街，能在HK 找个IB的位置我就心满意足了。

HK的竞争跟美国比，一样激烈，大把在街上呆过的人都回流到HK

哎，你还是没明白啊。打个比方为了说明不必执迷ivy league而已，不仅限于对MBA的讨论，有没有business 和 law这个学科doesn't really matter in this context. 再直白些，不管哪个学科，ivy和ivy之间也分三六九等，有的非ivy但是在米国人民心中属于ivy plus 的学校比某些ivy要reputable的多...why princeton isn't a good example here, because it's a lead ivy, not a tail. Then who's tail? Well, you tell me...Again, no offense to any one or any organization.

If you focus on healthcare, you should choose Duke. Duke's resources in healthcare are so strong, you will know this when you join Fuqua. Almost all the healthcare companies do on-campus recruiting at Fuqua. The HSM program is a unique one that will benefit your future career development.
