要使选项C成立，似乎缺少了一个assumption：
The undated document was written during the period of Schnitzler peddled.

So how about the document was written after the guy washed his hands off peddling?

是我太钻牛角尖，还是...?

该题问题问的是best support 。即获得原文最多支持的便是答案。从这个角度去理解，你很容易看出C从原文得到最多支持。不要理解为从原文MUST BE推出选项。
