In 1994, a team of scientists led


       by David Mckay began studying the


       meteorite ALH84001, which had been

13,000 years, suggesting to some


scientists that its PAH’s might have

However, McKay’s team has demon-


strated that the concentration of PAH’s


increases as one looks deeper into


ALH84001, contrary to what one would

The skeptic’s strongest argument,


however, is that processes unrelated


       to organic life can easily produce all


the evidence found by McKay’ steam,


(35)    including PAH’s.  For example, star


formation produces PAH’s.  Moreover,


PAH’s frequently appear in other


meteorites, and no one attributes


      their presence to life processes.

particular combination of PAH’s


in ALH84001 is more similar to the


combinations produced by decaying


organisms than to those originating


form nonbiological processes.

    这个词是关键，含有“争论”的意思。

    not+ dispute(否定含义）=generally agree

    不被争论=通常同意

    是被广泛接受了的观点

    说明关于the claim that ALH84001 originated on Mars已经不是一个widespread scientific dispute(广泛的科学争议)了

    ALH84001源自火星是科学家普遍认同的，就是说对此大家都没什么争论。A文中没提，C D E明显错。

    大家注意题目The passage asserts which of the following about the claim that ALH84001 originated on Mars?这题实际问的不是ALH84001，而是该陨石源于火星的这一claim。因此A是明显的无关选项，因为文中只说过他们对该陨石进行研究，并没有说他们是第一个提出该陨石源于火星的人。
