Support your views with reasons and/or examples from your own experience, observations, or reading. “科技最终使人们疏远了,而不是把他们聚在一起。
Does technology ultimately separate and alienate people more than it serves to bring them together? Frankly, to some extent, I do agree with the author’s general assertion that technology separates and alienates people. However, the author overlooks the benefits technology brings to our lives. On balance , my points of agreement and contention with the author involve both the separation and aggregation caused by the technology.
On the one hand, it is sagacious to admit that this opinion do reflect an awful phenomenon that people nowadays become more and more indifferent and bland. With the development of technology, people can communicate with any one through Internet without even leaving their chairs. Suppose a situation that employees are ask to finish a program before deadline. Although it may improve the efficiency and save money through the use of computers, people will end up with using computers all without any human communication. In this way, people separate from others gradually. In return, it will decrease the productivity consequently because cooperation becomes weaker and corporate atmosphere becomes worse as well. In some occasion, the loss may overweigh the gain.
On the other hand, recognizing that a more appropriate judgment must incorporate aspects of an issue as sufficient as possible, I have to point out my contention with the author who, while overstating the disadvantages of technology, ignores some paramount facts, at which some thoughtless people casually take a fresh look. In short, technology does bring us a lot of benefits which keep us closer and closer. Take our daily life for example, people stay far away have access to chat on the Internet. When they chat through on-line video, they are able to see each other. Without technology, it is hard to imagine such close communication. The further argument I want to render---and it might have been noticed by certain individuals is that people who share the same interest, from collecting rings to reforming clocks, can find a number of friends through Internet. Once I had a technological problem with my smart-phone and no one around me can solve it, I turned to the Internet for help. People from a forum helped me in the last. I’d like to say that during the on-line communication and discussion, people can get closer as well.
However, a general investigation has been conducted by the business institute in my university, discovering that people nowadays do spent more time on the Internet than the time spent with colleagues, friends and family. Based on the statistics, the author is not overly concerned.
In conclusion, this issue is a complex one, requiring subjective judgment. Thus it is not easy to say whether technology separates or aggregates people. According to me, while taking the benefit of technology, we should not ignore face-to face communication which is the most effective and original way to bring people toghther.作者: hxh2215 时间: 2012-3-14 22:08
