标题: 大全479-secD-1

1./DQ479       Like Edvard Grieg, whom the Scandinavians long refused to recognize, the Italians’ disregard for Verdi persisted for a decade after his critical acclaim in France and Austria.

(A) Like Edvard Grieg, whom the Scandinavians long refused to recognize,

(B) Like Edvard Grieg, who the Scandinavians long refused to recognize,

(C) Just as Edvard Grieg was long refused recognition by the Scandinavians,

(D) Just as the Scandinavians long refused to recognize Edvard Grieg, so

(E) Like the Scandinavians’ long refusal to recognize Edvard Grieg,

这题我做错了 这题花时16秒,选了D,在D/E中选 答案是E

从语法的对称来讲 当然选E

我将E的内容代入 感觉不合逻辑

The Scandinavians’ long refusal to recognize Edvard Grieg persisted for a decade after his critical acclaim in France and Austria.

after his critical acclaim in France and Austria.his不能指EG状语的内容不可能指EG

相反地 即使D的结构不是那么对称 但D的逻辑意思合理

D 正如S长期拒绝认识EG一样 意大利人十年来不承认V 在V在澳州和和法国获得名望后

我哪里不对呢

谢谢

(D) Just as the Scandinavians long refused to recognize Edvard Grieg, so

this is a very good question about "the apple and orange".

Here we can see the non-underlining part clearly show us the Subject is Italians' disregard, which is possessive noun.

yet  (D) use the as + sentence. In other words, "the Scandinavians" isn't consistent with "Italian's disregard"

(we can't compare people with disregard)

(E) Like the Scandinavians’ long refusal to recognize Edvard Grieg,

here (E) makes a great comparison, using "refusal" parallel to "disregard".

You can refer OG-SC "pearl jump" question

Good luck, paopao

sorry, gotta practice my typing

vincent , thank you for your response.

But it seem that you  did not address my problem.

Best wishes for your coming test. Thank you .

sorry, I didn't see it through

我将E的内容代入 感觉不合逻辑
The Scandinavians’ long refusal to recognize Edvard Grieg persisted for a decade after his critical acclaim in France and Austria.
after his critical acclaim in France and Austria.his不能指EG状语的内容不可能指EG

as you quote here, you kinda seemingly distort the original meaning:

Being the adverb clause, after his critical acclaim in France and Austria is used to describe the Italians’disregard for Verdi, not the  The Scandinavians’ long refusal to recognize Edvard Grieg.

Besides, no matter is (D) or (E), those adverb clause and preposition phrase serve to compare the main subject in the main clause, and that's it.

You cant combine the adverb clause appeared in the main clause with the (D)(E) choice

to balance, I should said (D)(E) is kinda similar to the meaning, both serving to be the comparison with the main subject or main clause, and not logically faulty.

I still dont get your point very clear, PLS let me know if I  was wrong

后半句的主语是Italians' disregard, 所以choice E用Scandinavian's long refusal来达到平行对称。

like/as就是考个平行对称,先排除不平行的,剩下如果有多个选项,再从like/as的意思上排除。

唉 你们讲的我明白 请再读读我的问题

我的问题是

从语法的对称来讲 当然选E

我将E的内容代入 感觉不合逻辑

The Scandinavians’ long refusal to recognize Edvard Grieg persisted for a decade after his critical acclaim in France and Austria.

after his critical acclaim in France and Austria.his不可能是EG在法国和澳洲获得名望

所以我认为E错 这里的比较是主从的比较 不是名词与名词的比较

相反地 即使D的结构不是那么对称 但D的逻辑意思合理

D 正如S长期拒绝认识EG一样 意大利人十年来不承认V 在V在澳州和和法国获得名望后

paopao, 一定很清楚这个语法规则,like A, B do, 要求A, B平行。B do, as A do, 要求B do, A do两个句子平行。

既然like的语法规则只要求A, B平行,为什么要把A代入到B do这个句子里去, 然后引导出一个牵强的意思来呢?

rhod,我是受OG的这题影响太深

91. Like many self-taught artists, Perle Hessing did not begin to paint until she was well into middle age.

(A)             Like

(B)             As have

(C)             Just as with

(D)             Just like (wordy)

(E)             As did

Choice A, the best answer, is concise and grammatically correct, using the comparative preposition like to express the comparison between many self-taught artists and Perle Hessing. (比较物对等) Choices B and E, which replace A’s prepositional phrase with clauses introduced by as, use auxiliary verbs that cannot properly be completed by any part of the verb phrase in the main clause:  neither have... did not begin nor did... did not begin is logically or grammatically (主谓一致) sound. In C and D, Just as with and Just like are both unnecessarily word(繁冗)

90天的销售库存(也就是库存的量可以足够90天的销售)对于最强的商业运作也是足够的了,而且也可以预期更高的价格或保证防止供应短缺。(实质即:90天的库存可以对今后的销售价格进行预计,也可以防止供应短缺。)

Weiyu:

like many self-taught artists.P did not begin to paint until she was well into middle age. 当用 As did表示只和until前的话平行对比,而和was无关;但是句子意思却要求反映这帮artists直到中年才开始绘画,这时不能补出2个不同的助动词,所以是A

我觉得OG说的很清楚,只有一个did不能代表 “did not begin to paint until she was well into middle age”

tianwan:

简洁性:如果意思同样,like+名词/代词比as+谓语简洁。

逻辑意思:many self-taught artists和Perle Hessing同样的范畴,应该是同样的动作, Perle Hessing did not那么many self-taught artists也应该did not,like就表明了这种同样的动作,相当于as did not 。而用as did则garble/tamper the meaning,表明Perle Hessing did not,但是many self-taught artists did。

但如果比较的对象是对立的范畴,如adult,child,则动作可能是对立的,也可能不对立。这时用like不妥当,要用as did或as did not清晰的表明动作的相同或对立。

到底我哪里出问题了

like A, B do和Just as A do, B do表达的意思是相同的,本题的关键在于比较的对象到底是什么。从逻辑上讲refusal和disregard对应,所以,E比D逻辑上更合理。而D中Just as the Scandinavians long refused to recognize Edvard Grieg, so后显然从逻辑上应该跟the Italians而不是Italians'这样的所有格形式。

stoneren 我感觉like A, B do / Just as A do , B do 同是比较 意思不大一样

LIKE表达的是名词之间的比较 AS表达的是主从之间的比较

在OG中多次强调这个区别的

as 比较强调动作,like强调的名词短语;

再回过头看D和E选项,E选项:和S对EG认可的长期拒绝一样,意大利人对V的漠视持续了...E中的名词长期拒绝和漠视才是具有可对比性的。

D中前面的动作是refused拒绝,后面的动作是persisted 持续两个动作不具备可比性。还有D中的so是多余的

Can anybody confirm that the 'so' in "just as..., so" is redundant? Thanks!
