231. Ms. Chambers is among the forecasters who predict that the rate of addition to arable lands will drop while those of loss rise.

(A) those of loss rise

(B) it rises for loss

(D) the rate of loss rises（D）

(E) there are rises for the rate of loss

ETS 说

In A and C, those 没有复数名词指代！the plural pronoun those has no plural noun to which it can logically refer.

those 可以指代arable lands 啊！这个样子我觉得 C 也说的通的！

我的理解是在哪里出的毛病呢！？？？

就基本的指代原則及平衡結構來說，those務必要找addition to arable lands 之前的名詞

如果those是指代arable lands,那就不能符合平衡對稱的原則

当时我也想过如果按照平行原则说！是不能指代的！

但是要是按照真正的语法规则真的不行吗！

也许这就是ETS 的思路？？

补全D就清晰了，

the rate of addition to arable lands will drop while the rate of loss (to arables) rises

其中to arables是对前面名词作定语

不要死记硬背，gmat语法不是toefl的，gmat更加注重中高级语言的正确表达方式，经常要通过逻辑意思的分析和对句意，句子结构，动作先后等的全面理解来完成。一定要将阅读和逻辑方面的相关知识运用到语法来，才能真正通晓gmat语法。
