问题有点弱智，但自己想的和M里面给的答案不一样，请大家帮忙看一下~谢谢~

问这句话的主语是什么？？？

又让我看到了，我觉得这句话主语是whoever~，后面的 rented these movies 是限定一下哪群人~

Question: who has to take them back before midnight?
Answer: Whoever rented these movies.

所以说"Whoever rented these movies"是主语。

baby 姐姐讲的很有道理，也很好理解。可是我以前觉得 rented these movies 是修饰 whoever 的，这样矛盾么？

主语="the thick book on the table"，主语核心词="book"

你如果非要认为"rented these movies"修饰"whoever"，那就随你，反正主语肯定是"whoever rented these movies"
