The first shots of the American Revolution, fired at Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts, were, according to legend, heard around the world, but news of these shots, which were sent by swift messenger, took four days in reaching New York City as well as another addtional eleven days to reach Charleston, South Carolina.


B. shots that was sent by swift messenger took four days in order to reach New York city, and also another eleven days.


C. shots that were sent by swift messenger took four days to reach NYC, and another eleven days


D.shots took four days by swift messenger in order to reach NYC and another eleven days in addition


E. shots took four days by swift messenger to reach NYC and another eleven days.


我选C，答案是E。


觉得E中by swift messenger的位置使得它只能修饰前面的four days,而后面的another eleven days好象就不是by swift messenger来完成的了。

mm，怎么会这么想呢？这种用法很常见啊？后面不用by swift messenger是省略了更简洁。


C有两个问题，1. 逻辑错误，that 从句应该是修饰news，但是由于从句中谓语用了were所以变成修饰shots了，news虽然是复数形式，但是作为“新闻”来讲，它是不可数的。


2. but连词后面没有句子，造成所谓的"run-on"句子。

我也不知道是不是真题，朋友买来的，很凌乱，大部分是GWD，但排序又不同。现在我是挑了跟GWD不同的几道来跟大家讨论一下。最可恨的是只有纸件，为了这几道题打了我老半天。：）

MM说得对，我没注意到这个！


2. but连词后面没有句子，造成所谓的"run-on"句子。

这个倒不是run-on吧，谓语仍然是took啊？不过第一点已经错了，肯定不能选C了。谢谢！
