That the supply of oil is finite has become an economic and political consideration of the first magnitude for all modern industrial nations.

That the new managing editor rose from the publication’s “soft” news sections to a leadership position is more of a landmark in the industry than that she is a woman

名词从句的that开头的句型我不太明白，可否解释一下，谢谢！

举个中文的例子：我独自去吃饭让LP很恼火。句子中出现了两个动词：吃饭和恼火。从句意上讲，xx让LP恼火是句子的主干，在没有连词的情况下，句子只能有一个谓语，所以‘恼火’是句子真正的谓语，那么如何处理‘吃饭’这个动作呢，我们使用名词从句，将‘吃饭’纳入从句中，就避免了和主句谓语发生冲突：That 我独自去吃饭，也可以理解为：The fact that 我独自去吃饭，由此可见，That名词从句也可以被理解为一个The fact/thing/problem that等等这样的同位语结构的简写。
