疑惑：此处的平行如何理解？？

103. Yellow jackets number among the 900 or so species of the world’s social wasps, wasps living in a highly cooperative and organized society where they consist almost entirely of females—the queen and her sterile female workers.

entirely of

对这个句子进行分析，我的理解是：
谓语动词 number，
这里用了一个同位语从句来进一步解释或者说给social wasps 下定义，
cooperatve 和 organized，consisting 都是修饰society的，是这种意义上的平行？

如B所示： “wasps, wasps that” 这样做同位语可以么？这样难道不wordy? 我可是上来就把这给排除了。哪位NN能给点这样使用同位语的例子啊。

例子我暂时想不出来，但是我记得og12里还有这样的例子，以后遇到再补充给你...同位语就是名词修饰名词啊...不wordy.
关于这里的平行，我觉得我以前的解释还是对的，平行的本质是功能平行。
今天恰好看到Ron举得几个例子：
let's say that scientists discover that X is 60 percent of Y, and that they are shocked by this finding.

this sentence implies that Y itself has shocked many in the scientific community. that's not true.

recent studies have shown that X is 60 percent of Y, a finding that has shocked many in the scientific community.
or
recent studies have shown that X is 60 percent of Y, a statistic that has shocked many in the scientific community.
these are correct.
所以是对的啦，不wordy~

你理解的平行式对的。这里cooperative organized 和 consisting... 都是作为society的定语，所以构成平行。

其实103题是要给 social wasps下定义，
我懂你想要问的问题，是问同位语可不可以和它想要修饰的词语相同，我觉得在语法上是没有问题的。
至于您的句子，读起来怪怪的，
he is a gifted boy，a boy that...更好点，个人觉得在没有前文的情况下，用the 特指不太好...能力有限，供参考。

我只是觉得这个完全可以说成
he is a gifted boy who can give you so much surprise.
所以会觉得wordy

难道没人告诉你 GMAT给的正确答案不一定是最好的答案吗？

我觉得这题应该从逻辑上把握，本句话旨在给social wasps 下定义，
cooperatve 和 organized，consisting 都是修饰society从而达到功能平行。
在A选项中，consist无法执行这一功能，从而使句意发生改变→make no sense
这里的they指代wasps，而个体的黄蜂是不能由......组成的，社会才能由......组成。

今天看了prep，同位语有这样的结构形式：
(1)名词重复性同位结构：n,n（重复所修饰的名词）+that 定语从句

(2)代词代替性同位结构：n,one/ones+that 定语从句

所以这就是为什么A不对B对的另一个原因，因为A不能说：母蜂构成了黄蜂，这个不合逻辑~

同学，你这里理解的是有问题的，这不是A不对的原因，原句想要表达的就是黄蜂社会主要由雌性构成。A还是错在我上面说的那个原因。是make sense的问题。不存在另一个原因，不一直是上面那个原因么...

按照OG解释就是这个三个属性是平行的修饰society而不是修饰wasp，A they指代不清，有可能是修饰wasp,C也是不清晰almsot 后面修饰的是society还是wasp(因为which引导的插入语)，而且which不可以指代前面整句（只能指代noun/prededing noun before comma）。DE不平行。
