标题: [求助]大虾们来看看这个语法指代
[Japan received huge sums of capital from the United States after the Second World War, using it to help build] a modern industrial system.
note: [划线的句子]
相信很多G友都做过上面这道题。
请问这个it的指代在语法上是不是除了可以指the United States以外，也可以指Japan呢？我记得波波说从句中的it从主句的主语开始指代起，如果不行，则看能不能指代宾语和其他的单数名词。
请高手指教！！！

it can't refer to japan, since japan is the subject, and japan can't use japan to help bulid

斑竹，"japan can't use japan to help bulid"是it不能指代Jpan的逻辑原因，那么在语法上就一定不行吗？是不是从句中的it在所有情况下都不能指代主语？那么主句中的it呢？

上面那句的it逻辑上指代的好像是Japan，而在语法上却指代的是the United States，是吗？
请解答，我发现我是个大菜鸟。

see, in D, it could refer to either japan or us, when it's unclear, it's a pronoun error;

for example: "Tom and sam went to the mall today, because it was his birthday." in this case, from the grammar's perspective, "his" could refer to either tom or sam, and because it is not clear, it is wrong(or not preferred);

不要急, 我刚开始更烂, 2题能错一, 工夫不负有心人, 慢慢的, 一稳抓稳打, 一定会成功的!

“从句中的it在所有情况下都不能指代主语”能否成为一种规则？
如果可以，那么主句中的it呢？

"while liking both ice cream and candy, billy can't decide whether he should eat it first." in this case once again, it could refer to both ice cream and candy, i don't know if there's any rules, u just gotta be careful, whenever u see pronous (they, it, them, ect), just ask yourself the question "could this word refer to more than one thing in this sentence?", often at times, u can spot the answer from the choices alone, just gotta be careful
