答案选E, 但是我就不明白为什么要用HAVE

ROCESSED, 这句话主干其实就是THE ONLY WAY IS "TO HAVE IT....", 那么这个HAVE的发起者是谁呢，我很迷惑，请好心人解释下，谢谢。

回楼主 the only way for growers to do sth, to do sth的逻辑主语是growers，我理解成是这是way的固定用法。之所以用have sth done,是因为它有让他人完成这件事之意，文章的意思时growers 花钱让其他人来帮他proces it,自己一个人忙不过来。

回1楼 citrus，实际上是个单数名词，代词不能用them,用it, A错

我想默默地问一句，按照OG的解释，Citrus is singular, 为何题干是“to salvage frozen citrus”，不应该是 to salvage frozen citruses or to salvage frozen a citrus吗？

我查了collins 和网络版的longman，好似还是不清楚。

这里的citrus被用作"集合名词"，所以前面不需要任何冠词（并不是指所有集合名词前面都不用冠词，而是这里不用冠词就表达的清楚了“citrus这个种类”，就不用冠词了），而GMAT里认为集合名词都是用单数的。这个不会成为唯一考点。

再引用个LES前辈对A选项的意见

根据ETS的解释，可以推断before/after+when这种时间状语连用是不符合语言习惯的。请参考OG124对after when的解释。

have it processed 类似于于 have your hair cut 表被动。这里是被加工在高浓果汁中。
可是是不是 process it into...也对？貌似比have it process 更简洁。

不过，是OG 124吗？12th版？sloth那个题目？

补充一点: rot 在表示某个物质主动腐烂时是不及物动词，所以此处的A应该表达为they rot way when...; 而rot在表达‘使得腐烂’时是及物动词，所以A rot B (B是腐烂的物体) 是正确的结构。

我觉得这道题A/E的区别应该是隐藏在before后的部分.. Citrus既然单复同型，用It 和 They应该都可以

补充下我的理解，首先citrus在GMAT考试中被认为是单数的，所以可以排除其他选项。其次，我觉得这道题的另一个考点是系动词前后要平行，所以要在AE中选，结合citrus的单复数问题，综合选择E选项。

OG的解释是：the use of “before” rather than “when” also clearly establishes the cause-and-effect relationship between weather and rotting.
连接weather和rotting的是and不是before。OG是不是想说and代替when？
可是and表示并列，怎么能表达因果关系呢？
百思不得其解啊

而OG对E的解释中，The use of before rather than when 这里的when是指原句，也就是A选项里的when warmer weather returns.
所以E选项想说，before they rot when warmer weather returns里面，没有很好的表达出因果关系，因为when是同时的意思。反而是 before ... weather returns and rots the fruit里面，通过主谓宾的形式，以A rot B，表示A使B腐烂，这里的因果关系是通过rot这个动词体现出来的。
