标题: 新gre-argument56-袜子耐用性
56 The following appeared in a memo from the vice president of marketing at Dura-Sock, Inc.
"A recent study of our customers suggests that our company is wasting the money it spends on its patented Endure manufacturing process, which ensures that our socks are strong enough to last for two years. We have always advertised our use of the Endure process, but the new study shows that despite our socks' durability, our average customer actually purchases new Dura-Socks every three months. Furthermore, our customers surveyed in our largest market, northeastern United States cities, say that they most value Dura-Socks' stylish appearance and availability in many colors. These findings suggest that we can increase our profits by discontinuing use of the Endure manufacturing process."
The argument, based on a unfounded assumption and dubious evidence, lays a claim that if the Dura -Sock company should stop use Endure manufacturing process, the company may have increasing profits. To bolster this argument, the writer advocates that the average customers buy new Dura- Socks every there months. The author also points out that the customers look upon stylish rather than enduring. Nevertheless, from a logical perspective, this argument is in effect hardly convincing due to several critical flaws after a close scrutiny, albeit it appears credible at a cursory glance.
In the first place, the author just simply owes contributions to that the people do not like the socks' durability. In this situation, the new study shows that the customers purchase new Dura- Socks every three months on average. However, this contention is open to a number of interpretations. It is entirely possible that the buyers like the color and new styles although the older socks are in used. If this is the case, the recommend will abrupt. Hence, the author's reasoning is definitely flawed unless the writer could convince me that the why the customers buy new socks.
In the second place, even if the author might be able to provide the solutions mentioned above, the argument still remains ill-conceived. The argument rests on the further assumption that the company should discontinue use of the Endure manufacturing process. Although more buyer like the DS's stylish appearance and availability in many colors, there is no evidence to substantiate the customers do not like enduring any more. It is likely that the costumers just want to buy more socks to store or make gifts to their family. Therefore, without ruling out as well as accounting for the other possible scenarios above, the author could not come to this conclusion.
Before I come to my conclusion, even if the evidence turns out to support the foregoing assumptions, the author just overlook the possibility that the new stylish and color will make more profits. In this light, the author maintain more color and stylish of socks give rise to more customers. There is no guarantee that it is necessary. And granted that the buyer like the new stylish and color, this survey is only suit for northeastern United States. This is no evidence to verify if northeastern survey will reflect the tendency of nationwide. Therefore, it proves to be the author’s responsibility to mull over this assumption and then furnish it with cogent evidence so as to pave the way for a more tenable argument.
To sum up, it seems precipitous to jump to the conclusion that we should discontinue use Endure process. In order to draw an efficient conclusion, the author ought to reason more convincingly, provide more statistics evidence showing, take every consideration into account. Hence, if the argument had better evaluated this conclusion, I would need more information about the opinions to other cities and about if the people like color and style more than enduring. Including the given factors discussed above, it would have been more thorough and logically acceptable.

The argument, based on a unfounded assumption and dubious evidence, lays a claim that if the Dura -Sock company should stop >the< use >of< Endure manufacturing process, the company may have increasing profits. To bolster this argument, the writer advocates that the average customers (customer) buy(s) new Dura- Socks every there months. The author also points out that the customers look upon >the< stylish (style) rather than enduring. Nevertheless, from a logical perspective, this argument is in effect hardly convincing due to several critical flaws >found< after a close scrutiny, albeit it appears credible at a cursory glance.
In the first place, the author just simply owes contributions to that (omit, THAT) the people do (omit, DO) not like (liking) the socks' durability. In this situation, the new study shows that the customers purchase new Dura- Socks every three months on average. However, this contention is open to a number of interpretations. It is entirely possible that the buyers like the color and new styles although the older socks are in used (use). If this is the case, the recommend will abrupt (?? the recommend will abrupt ??). Hence, the author's reasoning is definitely flawed unless the writer could (can) convince me that (replace THAT with OF) the >reason< why the customers buy new socks.
In the second place, even if the author might be able to provide the solutions mentioned above, the argument still remains ill-conceived. The argument rests on the further assumption that the company should discontinue use of the Endure manufacturing process. Although more buyer (customers) like the DS's stylish appearance and availability in many colors, there is no evidence to substantiate the customers do not like >the< enduring any more. It is likely that the costumers just want to buy more socks to store or make (replace MAKE with GIVE AS) gifts to their family. Therefore, without ruling out >this< as well as accounting for the other possible scenarios above, the author could (can) not come to this conclusion.
A couple small mistakes, overall very good
