答案为A，选出正确答案方式有很多。但是如果以虚拟语气去解释if从句中用了一般过去式的话，主句动词为什么不是should+动词原型？

主句是陈述客观事实，所以用一般时

主句不虚拟，从句虚拟。这是常见用法 Should he come (If he should come), tell him to give me a call.

首先，虚拟语气的主句应该是would+动词原型。
其次，这里不是虚拟语气。虚拟语气是用于描述与事实相反的情况，而这里并非与事实相反，事实就是如此，法律就是这样规定的。这里是在作假设，假如employ这样做了，那么corporation就犯罪了

同would，could和might也可以用表达虚拟语气。
