The statement seems to assume that since cultures in the world are various, thus studying in a foreign country is beneficial for students to have a new view to this world. To some students from developed country, it is hard to see famine in their country, and if they come to China, they can see there are also numerous people who are so poor that they cannot even satisfy the basic need of eating, thus they may appreciate what they have and be thrifty. Furthermore, it is advantageous for students to be more independent when they study in a foreign country, fostering them the abilities of problem-solving and interpersonal communication. And as more and more enterprises take attention to the international education background, the experience of studying in a foreign is beneficial for students to compete in employment battle.
However, students have the right to choose education, and it is not suitable for colleges and universities to require students to study in a foreign country at least one semester. Since the fees to study in a foreign country are considerable, it is not fair for some students who may cannot afford it. And if colleges and universities organize students to study in a foreign, it may waste much human and financial resource, thus may exacerbate the inequality of education.
In addition, it cannot foresee whether studying in a foreign country will be fluky. Every coin has two sides. Meanwhile, some students who are introverted, adding languish matter, may have problems with making friends, and without communication with the family and friends around, they may feel lonely and cannot adapt to the environment, thus may lead them to feel self-frustration, which may has a detrimental effect in their own life.
In conclusion, it is beneficial for students to study in a foreign country to some extent, however, rather than requiring students to study in a foreign country at least one semester, colleges and universities should respect students' mind and leave students themselves to decide based on their own situation concerning family finance, their psychological situation and their ability to adapt to a new environment.作者: jz20000cn 时间: 2012-1-18 21:42
