标题: 问一题白勇《语法全解》的题
题目是这样子的：
Once the economic and social usefulness of the motor car was demonsrated and ... proved, much of the early hostility to it in rural regions disappeared.
A. and with its superiority to the horse being
B. and its superiority over the horse had been
C, abd its superiority to the horse
D. its superiority over the horse
E. with its superiority to the horse having been

正确答案是B ，但是我选C
里面的解释是C选项 and 连接 once 从句和名词短语，两者形式不对称。但B选项不也一样吗？
难道不能理解为C选项是省略了was? 还有为什么要用 had been这个时态啊？

因为是虚拟语气所以用had been,
句子结构：一旦什么什么被证明了，什么什么就会消失
A:being的用法不对
C：句子缺少谓语动词不完整
DE没有and连接直接Out

关于你这个疑问，当并列句子中，be动词的功能相同并且主语相同时才可以省略。
比如 Xiaoming is a basketball player and (is) a coach. is可省
但是这个句子，如果把C装进去，Once the economic and social usefulness of the motor car was demonsrated and its superiority to the horse proved...
我们可以看到was 是usefulness的系动词，而后面并列句的主语是superiority,并列句中be动词的主语不是一个，所以不能省略。

谢谢你耐心的解答哈。我在想了想，你说的没错。
他们的主语确实不是一样的，前面的主语的是economic and social usefulness of the motor car ，即机动车辆的经济及社会效用，而and后面的主语its superiority, its 指代的是机动车的优越性。
在我看来你已经很强悍了哈~
