最近问题比较大,麻烦版主和各位NN了.

5. Economic considerations color every aspect of international dealings, and nations are just like individuals in that the lender sets the terms of its dealings with the borrower. That is why a nation that owes money to another nation cannot be world leader.

The reasoning in the passage assumes which one of the following?

(A) A nation that does not lend to any other nation cannot be a world leader.

(B) A nation that can set the terms of its dealings with other nations is certain

to be a world leader.

(C) A nation that has the terms of its dealings with another action set by that

nation cannot be a world leader.

(D) A nation that is a world leader can borrow from another nation as long as that

other nation does not set the terms of the dealings between the two nations.

(E) A nation that has no dealings with any other nation cannot be world leader.

答案C,理不清思路.

Q5, try deny test.  Deny C, we get "A nation that has the terms of its dealings with another action set by that nation can still be a world leader."  If so, this claim in the original passage "a nation that owes money to another nation cannot be world leader" will fall apart.  So, C is a necessary assumption of the passage.

Q6, Sims does metnion the issue of age: " so I will not comment on your youth and inexperience."  Therefore, B is out.

On the other hand, Smis didn't respond to Rotelle's claim that he was "too old to address effectively the difficult issues...", so E is correct.

Q7.  What Rotelle meant is that Smis is too old to address those difficult issues, not that Smis is too old to understand young people's point of view.  So, D is the best answer.

严重感谢ROBERTCHU,5和7已经明白,但是6还有一点疑问Sims does metnion the issue of age: " so I will not comment on your youth and inexperience."  Therefore, B is out.那不就说他不会涉及年龄问题吗?
