B.it is closing up to one-fourth of its stores, which accounted for its poor sales

C.it was closing up to one fourth of its stores because of poor sales.

D.to be closing, on account of poor sales, up to one-fourth of its stores.

E.having poor sales, such that up to one-fourth of its stores will be closed.

开始本人选择A，但是they指代是在是有问题。答案给的C，我觉得绝对错，宾语从句that不可以省略。这样分析觉得D是可以的，希望NN教诲~

sales of x means x is for sale... So A is out.

Announce don't need that. It can be announce noun phrase so C is ok.

was closing up to 1/4 of its stores makes sense since was need for announced .

Store have poor sales so stores because of poor sales is good.

D is wrong because on account of poor sales doesn't know what to modify. WEC or stores. Should be stores so D is out

announce 后面可以跟 noun phrase 但是 C选项也不是 noun phrase 啊，也是一个从句的啊？？

首先，谢谢解答，但是还是有些疑问。
A ，我自己有研究一下，A 的sales of..因该没有问题，原意不就是讲销售额，sale作名词，除了销售不是还有销售额的意思么？我个人觉得还是they指代歧义：是指全部商店还是只那1/4商店。还有就是新发现的问题——时态不对：......announced...结果从句是 they will be closed.... 这是个问题。
D，大家都说是读着支离破碎，如果说D的 on account of poor sales 修饰歧义，那么C的because of poor sales修饰也是有问题的啊。D的致命伤希望可以指出。
C，有人说GMAT中有一些词特例加宾语从句可以省略that，放一个帐篷：think, tell 有没加that但是出现在正确选项的情况。所以，有人演绎说可能announce也是一个特例，这个等待确认。

我记得曼哈顿还是哪里写过，有“说明”意味的动词常需要带that，但是say和announce例外。lz另找nn确认吧，我回家了，手头没有资料。
