标题: 三道疑惑的LZM语法
E1-13：
Archaeologists in Ireland believe that a recently discovered chalice, which dates from the eighth century, was probably buried to keep from being stolen by invaders.
B) to keep it from
C) to avoid
D) in order that it would avoid
E) in order to keep from
问题：这里说选C，但我清楚的记得OG中选B

E2-5:
Several recent studies suggest that a child born into a family whose members have allergies will probably themselves develop allerigies following the onset of a minor viral infection.
B) children born into families whose members have allergies will probably themselves develop allerigies
C) a child born into a family the members of which have allergies will probably develop an allergy
D) in those families where members have allergies, children will probably develop allergies themselves.
E)children born into families in which there are allergies will themselves probably develop an allergy.
问题：答案选B，我选C，觉得“a minor viral infection”应该对应“an allergy”，但想想family后面没有逗号确实不大好，但B中的“will probably themselves develop”这种表达好象没见过。

E2-7:
Discrimination in wages paid in occupations that are predominantly male over the predominantly female have given rise to substantial differentials between the wages of housepainters and secretaries and between the wages of parking-lot attendants and library assistants.
D) that favors predominantly male occdupations over those that are the predominantly female has
E) in predominantly male occupations over the predominantly female has
问题：答案选E，但是“occupations ”怎么能对应“female”？

1 og的正确。lzm错误。
2 will probably themselves do 好像不常用，但是还是蛮常见的
3 D的问题关键是that从句修饰谁？如果修饰discrimination,明摆着逻辑意思不合理。如果修饰wages，则favors用动词单数不语法。

那就是说“will probably themselves do“”这种形式是可以的，对吧？
3）我也觉得D是错的，但能否帮我解释一下E为什么对吗？我觉得E还是存在对称问题。

有具体例子才好说。这题主渭一致做出。判断省略不影响选择。

嗬嗬，这题实际上是事后诸葛。这个题的思路请看3楼4楼。之所以牵扯到省略的问题是为了--解释--为什么e对。此题中省略不可以作为判断的依据。

E2-5中allergies不需要minor viral infection 对应,因为可以由逻辑判断:少量的病毒(单数)可以引起很多人的过敏(复数).

为什么1-13要选keep it from?比avoid要简洁？还是习惯啊？

哪位能帮我解释一下，that从句修饰discrimination为什么逻辑错误？

不选D的另一个理由应该是over前后的结构不对称吧，adj.+n 与 n+从句不对称

说说刚才前面讨论的省略问题。为什么说省略是正确的，我的理解是：请注意定冠词the，我认为如果原句改为Discrimination in wages paid in occupations that are predominantly male over （predominantly） female has given rise to 就正确了。

回过头来看D如果改为that favors predominantly male occdupations over those that are predominantly female has也就正确了，因为加了the以后，those predominantly female 就变成特指的了和predominantly male就不同了。

再说E选项in predominantly male occupations over the predominantly female has，这里为什么要用the？因为occupations省略了，通过the + adj代替名词。

wages that favors predominantly male occdupations 与 those that are the predominantly female has 应该是平行的（A OVER B），所以如果THAT修饰Discrimination是有逻辑错误的，因此favors应该改成favor才对。不知道这样解释对不对，刚开始复习GMAT，NN指教了

我觉得E 的平行也不对我觉得比较对象不是

predominantly male occupation 和the predominantly female

over 并列的是 wages paid in predominantly male occupations 和 wages paid in the predominantly female 即使把 wages paid in the predominantly female 中的 wages paid 省略掉也应补出 in 啊？我觉得E是否可改为 those paid in the predominantly female ？
