C选项中OG解释说naming不可以修饰COOK,但是如果我把前面的逗号去掉能否修饰cook呢?谢谢了

我也不确定这样对不对,请NN来回答在这种情况下修饰James Cook 是不是定从比现在分词好吧.

因为前面主句中用的是实意动词,而非系动词 ,有了这个逗号了naming就不会修饰到James Cook头上去,而去掉逗号虽然确实加大了修饰James Cook的概率,但因为逻辑上还是错的(naming表示一个长期状态,表示Cook一直在反复地为之命名),所以读句子的时候还是不会理解为naming在修饰James Cook。所以…这就是不要过于纠结错误用法的原因。
ps: 确实存在现在分词状语和被修饰主句直接未用逗号隔开的情况。
