Is it difficult for people to achieve professional success without sacrificing important aspects of a fulfilling personal life? Different people might hold distinct opinions due to their diverse backgrounds and various perspectives. In my view, although professional success is demanding, people can still balance between work life and personal life. The deep analysis presented below strongly supports my assertion.
Admittedly, people have to put a great amount of efforts to work in order to achieve professional success. With the rapid development and severe competition in today's society, many businesses, if not most, have to keep a correspondingly fast pace to survive, requiring their employees to be highly adaptive, productive, and creative. Therefore, people would have to spend a lot of time on working different tasks, discussing business topics, and attending professional training, while jeopardizing the opportunities could have been utilized to pursue personal interests, stay with families and friends, and serve for the communities. Some organizations even use surveillance camera to monitor their employees' performance. In that way, most people are under great pressure and have to strive for the best all the time. Otherwise, they might loss their jobs, resulting in a great financial and mental disaster for themselves and their families.
However, good time management ability is playing an important role in one's life. Success is not solely determined by one's professional performance, as each individual is acting as a variety of roles in the society. If someone achieved great success in climbing up the job ladder at the expense of personal life, it could hardly justify saying that person is successful overall. In that way, people need to have great time management and multi-tasking capabilities. More specifically, people should fully utilize rather than waste the time at work to generate benefits for the employers, and might need to work overtime, if necessary. Meanwhile, people still need to participate into other various non-work related activities to expand their social networks, horn communication skills, keep a healthy lifestyle and so on. Whether recognized or not, these activities usually keep people positive, vigorous, and energetic, bringing a lot of benefits to the professional works.
In addition, thanks to the development of modern technology, people of some occupations now can well balance their work life against their personal life by working at home. Without wasting precious time on commuting and bearing great working pressure, people who work at home can setup their own schedule, complete more work-related tasks. More importantly, people have an opportunity to stay with their families, taking care of little baby and dealing with unexpected emergencies, and learn more job-related skills, better serving the employers and advancing own careers. Clearly, working at home, if executed properly, would generate great benefits for both employees and employers.
In conclusion, although people have to work hard to achieve professional success, they can still figure out a way to balance professional and personal life. After weighing all the aspects discussed above, we may readily reach the standpoint I advocate.
