标题: LSAT-11-4-1,请教

1. A physician who is too thorough in conducting a medical checkup is likely to subject the patient to the discomfort and expense of unnecessary tests. One who is not thorough enough is likely to miss some serious problem and therefore give the patient a false sense of security. It is difficult for physicians to judge exactly how thorough they should be. Therefore, it is generally unwise for patients to have medical checkups when they do not feel ill.

Which one the following would most seriouly weaken the argument in the passage?

A. Some serious diseases in their early stages have symptons that physicians can readily detect.

B. Under the pressure of reduced reimbursements, physicians have been reducing the average amout of time they spend on each medical checkup.

C. Patients not medically trained are unable to judge for themselves what degree of thoroughness is appropriate for physicians in conducting medical checkups.

D. Many people are financially unable to afford regular medical checkups.

E. Some physicians sometimes exercise exactly the right degree of thoroughness in perfoming a medical checkup.

答案是A,可我觉着E也行得通。A似乎是一个它因导致,而E我觉着是直接反驳论据,印象中好像两种都可以作为削弱题的备选项?想请教各位作一评判,谢谢。

In E, "Some physicians sometiems ..." indicates a sense of unfrequent occurrence.  So E doesn't potently weaken the argument.

thanks. but is that the only reason? Can anyone confirm my previous comments?

I don't think A gave another reason. A directly refused the conclustion "check up is unnecessary" because some serious disease will be detected by physician. But E says "some physician sometime can do the right job, so other time they can't, meaning checkup is not always necessary. E didn't weaken.

the passage argues that because physicians can not judge what degree of thoroughness of medical checkup is appropriate, patients may not go to hospital to get regular examination when they do not feel ill

we are asked to identify the reason to weaken the argument

A tell us that some serious diseases can be easily detected in their early stages, that is to say,  for these serious diseases, any degree of thoroughness of medical checkup is viable for patients

i do not think choice E consists with the intention of ETS. critical reasoning(批判性思维)
