International sporting events need not be fiscal disasters, the financial success of the 1992 Olympic Games demonstrates that fact.
(A) the financial success of the 1992 Olympic Games demonstrates that fact
(B) for example, the 1992 Olympic Games were financially successful
(C) like the financial success of the 1992 Olympic Games demonstrates
(D) a fact demonstrated by the 1992 Olympic Games, which were financially successful(E)
(E) as the financial success of the 1992 Olympic Games demonstrates
the 1992 Olympic Games 应为复数
http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/08/03/soldiers.olympics.reut/index.html
Eight members of the Army Marksmanship Unit at Fort Benning, Georgia, will be wearing the U.S. colors when the Olympic Games begin next week in Greece. They will compete in the rifle, skeet, trap and pistol shooting events.

119. Executives and federal officials say that the use of crack and cocaine is growing rapidly among workers, significantly compounding the effects of drug and alcohol abuse, which already are a cost to business of more than $100 billion a year.
(A) significantly compounding the effects of drug and alcohol abuse, which already are a cost to business of
(B) significantly compounding the effects of drug and alcohol abuse, which already cost business
(C) significantly compounding the effects of drug and alcohol abuse, already with business costs of
(D) significant in compounding the effects of drug and alcohol abuse, and already costing business(B)
(E) significant in compounding the effects of drug and alcohol abuse, and already costs business
Choice B, the best answer, uses clear and concise phrasing to state that it is the effects of drug and alcohol abuse that already cost business the sum mentioned. In A, to business is awkwardly and confusingly inserted between cost and the prepositional phrase that modifies it, and are already a cost to business is wordy and awkward compared to cost business. In C, already with business costs of... is awkward and unclear, failing to specify that those prior effects generate the cost. Choices D and E produce faulty constructions with the phrase significant in compounding, which cannot grammatically modify the verb form is growing.
Spiders are not insects, as many people think.
As many people think, spiders are not insects;代句子
Spiders are not insects as many people think; 代词
Spiders are not insects,as many people think;我认为有歧义啊,新概念第四册第二课是代insects啊
Spiders are not insects, as many people think, nor even nearly related to them.
One can tell the difference almost at a glance for a spider always has eight legs
and an insect never more than six.这里as many people think=many prople think they are insects
Olympian games :A Pan-Hellenic festival in ancient Greece consisting of athletic games and contests of choral poetry and dance, first celebrated in 776 b.c. and held periodically until a.d. 393 on the plain of Olympia in honor of the Olympian Zeus. Also called Olympian games
A Pan-Hellenic festival =Olympian games

http://www.olympic.org/uk/organisation/missions/games_uk.asp
The Olympic Games are competitions between athletes in individual or team events and not between countries
The Olympic Games consist of the Games of the Olympiad and the Olympic Winter Games.
The first Olympic Winter Games were celebrated in 1924
The Olympic Games are the exclusive property of the IOC
As many people think, spiders are not insects
Spiders are not insects,as many people think
Spiders are not insects,as many people think they are

financially successful games demonstrate that events are not fiscal disasters
anything logically flaw?
D,partly because certain characteristics should be acquired by their steers ,
成功的games中心词是games,怎么能证明events are not fiscal disasters,只能说games的success,强调中心词success才能证明events are not fiscal disasters。
en
至于这道题中的D选项,我也选了D,现在看来还是很明显有错的,原句中the financial success...demonstrates that fact,,而在D中a fact demonstrated by the 1992 Olympic Games,可见D同原句中demonstrate的主体产生了分歧,可见同原句的逻辑出现了错误
