In the past several years, astronomers have detected more than 80 massive planets, most of them as large or larger than Jupiter, which circle other stars.

(D) mostly at least as large as Jupiter, which circle
(E) mostly as large or larger than Jupiter, circling

因为circling在句尾做伴随状语，逻辑主语为句子主语，astronomers，不符合逻辑所以排除CE

以前也经常这样排除，没错过，这题就错了，不知道是本题反常，还是方法有问题，求NN解答！

这里的circling话如果放在massive planets，后面就像楼主说的修饰astronomers，但C里面，circling 修饰的应该就是前面句子里的主语 most of them

应该是两个逗号是插入语之间，删去，然后句尾的ing形式既可以修饰句子，又可以修饰名词，所以修饰的是planets

中间的most of them是插入语，完全可以将两个逗号和插入语的成分省略不看。就成了astronomers have detected more than 80 massive planets （circling other stars.）-ing紧邻在planes后面作后置定语。特别要注意一个语法点就是comma+ing和无逗号ing的区别。comma+ing往往不做定语修饰紧邻的名词，而是一个副词性质的phrase来修饰整个句子和主句的主语。

这道题Ving不做伴随状语，是修饰80 massive planets，中间被most of them插入。
