B末尾的 were it to do so 是个什么东东？我觉得c蛮好啊！

were it to do so是虚拟语气的倒装结构，相当于if it were to do so；

C首先破坏了平行结构：A be so X and B be so Y中两个be动词保证了结构的平行，因此不能省略第二个，况且两个动词的单复数不一致；其次，破坏了so ... that结构，or else在这里不知所云。

另：如果MM不是马上要考试的话，建议不要作GWD的题目，偶认为GWD的题目可以作模考。

又想了一想，是不是be 动词完全一样的话就可以省略呢？

if it were to do so的so 在这里好像指代不明确啊？但是在此处用虚拟语气的却有道理。

1.were=if ? 查了LDOCE 没有这样的用法阿有人可以举例吗

2.it 指代什么? 如果were it to do so=if it were to do so 照逻辑看似乎是ice cap 但是ice cap 后面没有be动词were 如果代temperatures 应该用复数吧

那位牛牛能给解释一下，little and little of 是否有区别，我觉得C很好，be动词本来就是可以省略的，而且GMAT倾向于省略，or else就是否则的意思嘛,很简练

i think "is" and "are" are different(one means single), so is can not be eliminated.

这个说的很对哦，第2个be动词和第一个单复数不一样,不能省略，所以马上可以排除C，D，E呢，were it to do so 确实是高中语法，一看到就觉得亲切啊~~

我正在疑惑，其实A中后面用otherwise表示否则与were it do so表达的意思是一样，所以AB的区分点就不在这里了，除去little的歧异，就应该是so that，但是查了longman发现so (that), so...(that)都可以

chan的解释，醍醐灌顶啊！！

就算it可以，哪也不应该用was it to do so吧，因为前一句是little polar ice melts 而不是 little polor ice does not melts，句子翻译过来成了如果冰不融化或者很少融化，那海平面会涨250米，不通嘛！！

C项无错误嘛，用逗号代替分号，整个句子意思更清楚了。

B肯定是对的,were it to do so是虚拟语气的简单写法.

was是不对的

可以在大全上搜一下,至少有3个这种例子的

因为后面是一句话,所以用分号阿.

个人觉得GWD 3-10的答案应该是C而不是B吧？？因为在有and 的情况下，and 后面的Be动词是可以省略的。

另外，觉得B还有一个很要不得的错误：

原文说的是little polat ice（很少的一点极点冰）

,而B中改成了little of the polar ice（极点冰中很少的一点）

所指物的范围已经改变了~~~

这么一来，根本就是改变了原文的意思呢@.@~~~

再说了，C用or else不是比B来的更加简洁么~~~？？？

个人意见，还望大家指点
