请大家指教解题思路：
B & E 错，理解。 The crab 所以不选they, their.
跟据GMAT所述，我自己会先排除C. it 距离the crab 太远，易犯指代不清。通常it 指最近的那个名词，变成指the Gulf of Mexico了。明显有问题。
另外，不明白A & D 为什么错？语法上貌似没问题。但OG 解释说，On account of living is awkward and wordy; because of living is not the correct idiom
遇到这样的，上来就把正确答案排除了怎么办？

代词一般指代主句的主语比较多，所以这里it指代the golden crab没有问题。还有刘易斯语法上说because of 后面加动名词一般不对，因为动名词不够简洁，我想on account of 应该也是这个道理。作者: 夏威夷季风 时间: 2011-11-15 12:08

是这样的么？逗号不能连接两个完整的句子，楼主的意思是说上句是主句，逗号后面是分句吧？
其实俺觉得A和D最大的错误在于：due to, because of, on account of, as a result of, despite等后面只能接名词或者名词短语。而不能接句子，动名词，或者抽象名词。这个living就是错误的。
