标题: 一道manhattan to what结构VS同位语
At the time of the Mexican agrarian revoution, the most radical faction, that of Zapata and his followers, proposed a return to communal ownership of [ land, to what had been a pre-Columbian form of ownership respected by the Spaniards]
A. land, to what had been a pre-Columbian form of ownership respected by the Spaniards
B.land , a form of ownership of the pre-Columbian form of ownership respected by the Spaniards
其他的答案都不靠谱就在这两个里面选我觉得B中同位语一是经常成为正确答案二是整个结构都没问题如果用定语从句会有修饰LAND的嫌疑但是同位语就没有这个问题了所以选B
但是answer居然是A 对B的解释是B有可能修饰LAND！我晕了同位语的优点不就是没这个问题吗到底是为啥啊 NN们帮帮忙吧

我觉得定语从句和同位语这里都没问题吧，B的错误大概是改变原意，ownership of 暗示了pre-Columbian be owned, 而且a form of ownership of the pre-Columbian form of ownership respected by the Spaniards 似乎没有明确respect动作发生在什么时候，A不存在这个问题

我来解释一下吧~
这道题的意思是， propose a return to commuanl ownership of land, (a return) to what had been pre-COlumbian form of ownership. 如果选B的话那个a form of 就是修饰Land了~可是land 跟a form of完全不搭边~

所以这道题再次印证了，GMAT语法考得是逻辑这一观点

终于有人回复了

我想问下我们经常用同位语来解决定语从句就近修饰的问题而且证明这是GMAC 的perference 这里的a form为什么是修饰land 而不是修饰ownership？加一句prep对同位语的解释“a)起修饰语的作用,一般用于修饰名词或名词短语；同位语解释的是整个名词，不是名短中某个词，故同位语不是核心词修饰。” 而且从来没遇到过说同位语像which一样有就近修饰的问题啊？

还有我看了解释啊他说to what是定语从句也就像to which一样并不是省略了a return 而且如果是（a return）to what 那更不逻辑了吧 return怎么会成为一个form呢？

你的解释是哪里的呢？ to what不可能是定语从句，因为what = the thing which
修饰a return to what也是不太对的，因为这样的话，可以直接用and连接，不用逗号，同时如果不是平行结构，那么a return的省略也是有待商榷的。这里的结构感觉是进一步解释前面to communal ownership of land,
如果是前面是用破折号的号比较常见

关于B，B作为同位语，其实可以修饰前面的整个介词修饰结构，但是B的写法很糟糕， a form of ownership of the pre-Columbian form of ownership respected by the Spaniards
基本上就是罗圈话，尤其是of owership respected by the spaniard那里，你可以尝试翻译下这个词条，你就会发现自己都崩溃了

解释是manjattan的

能看清楚我的回复吗。。。a return被省略的观点是上面讨论的那个朋友的，也是我不同意的

至于b是我打的时候打错了，应该是，a form of ownership of the pre-Columbian and respected by the Spaniard.因为是gmat的复习ipa，不能粘贴，不好意思了

B这样就更不对了，首先，of +名词修饰语过去分词修饰本身不太平行（但不是绝对错误），其次，你可以看到and respected可平行两个逻辑层次，一个是a form of XXXX and respectedXXX，一个是 a form of ownership of XXX and respectedxxxx。这里respected修饰ownership 和form在结构上都是可以的，这样就很混乱了

没有链接啊，是ipa程序，上面倒是有论坛链接，gmatclub和manhattant论坛的，等我把它一个一个打下来。。。不能复制
我也觉得它这解释不可能，不可能是修饰啊

＂Bottom line is I don't trust these Chinese web sites that have tons of questions with no explanations. I have found at least a dozen answer errors and even more typos in the last few months. Caveat emptor. ＂

你觉得A不对，好好看一下B，B是 a form of ownership( of the pre-Columbian form) and(respected by the Spaniards) 这两个可以并列么？
至于A，to what had been 这个结构怎么了？又不是to which，这个可以看做是对a return的省略，后面的内容简洁完整，至于你说为什么不用and,我想后面那个句子是对前面那个句子补充说明，而不是平行并列，换句话说，就是，a return to A, to blablabla，完全可以的啊~哪里有语法错误一说？

a return to A, to blablabla 如果to 修饰return，那么后面前面应该有and
如果不是，那么成分很诡异
