答案选C，我没异议啦，就是E选项both the northern and southern 是不是表达错了，少了一个the ，以后可以用这类错误排除选项吗？

C 的从句的谓语是复数，排除D。 E 的第二个it指代有歧义啦。。多个单数名词出现的时候，慎用代词

个人觉得可以。。因为both.. and...连接的结构必须平行
