这题B是正确答案，原句是错的。

官方关于A的解释为：For is the wrong preposition to follow ability; the phrase and, the result, is introduces a new clause which indicates that children’s inability to distinguish sounds enables them to make sense of speech.

这个解释如果把中间那段去掉，即‘the phrase and, the result, is introduces a new clause which indicates that’我还能理解因为后面的to没有和前面的平行，从意思上讲的确有‘indicates that children’s inability to distinguish sounds enables them to make sense of speech.’ 但我想不明白的是这和插入语the result is有什么关系呢？

lz应该知道插入语的作用吧，插入语在句中有时是对一句话的一些附加解释、说明或总结；有时表达说话者的态度和看法；有时起强调的作用；有时是为了引起对方的注意；还可以起转移话题或说明事由的作用；也可以承上启下，使句子衔接得更紧密一些。

根据插入语的作用，请lz想想原句中the result is的result是指的什么？也就是解释中的这句话：the result, is introduces a new clause which indicates that children’s inability to distinguish sounds enables them to make sense of speech. 句子的意思就变成了是前面的inability to distinguish导致了后面的to make a sense of speech。

而正确的句子意思应该是the conversational pace of everyday life hampers the ability of some children导致了后面的make sense of speech。

谢谢回复，但是如果把B选项中的as a result替代A中的the result is,同样会有你所说的‘句子的意思就变成了是前面的inability to distinguish导致了后面的to make a sense of speech。’

是的，因为A选项本身句子结构存在问题，so...that...不完整，缺乏一个结果状语从句，从而使得and后面的那一部分也像是to distinguish引起的，正确的句子就很好的处理了这个问题。

另外，the result is是个不完整的句子，不是一个phrase，所以即使是插入语，后面的句子也需要在意思上对其进行补足，而as a result仅是充当一个副词短语，在句意上完全独立。
