(版本2) 刚发现这个月的一题文法是去年的机经....比较完整版. 大家讨论一下.

"use" is a verb that always has an object.

· use+object+to infinitive:You can use the palette knife to apply paint directly to the canvas.

天山’s remark: 个人认为是选to use in place of ，如果用replace，则replace的逻辑主语指代不清，好象是学生，其实逻辑主语应该是government. 另外，ETS在og的注释中频繁用到use..in place of ,而从未用过use...to repalce.

Sbbi’s remark: i think it should be:
to use sth in place of
or
for use to replace
use is vt

· in place of somebody/something

also in somebody's/something's place

感觉用to use them in place of比较好一点。

THEM可能会被认为存在歧义（比如指代学校）而不被选择。

replace的用法：

one person replaces another,replace sth with sth;1,2中的for是介词，use就变成了名词，所以1，2不好。3，4用动词不定式使句子意思表达的更清楚。

use sth in place of sth是一种常见的表达。

虽然动词优于名词，但them确实可能产生歧义
