ＯＧ有很多地方提到compare to / compare with，例如:

it seems to compare the appearance of natural phenomena to that of a person standing on land...

compare the pension system with the approach taken by Social Security itself

还有很多，请教两者在意义和用法上有何区别？

compare A to B，把A比成B，A 和B之间是有共性的。

compare A with B，把A与B相比较。

不过，在口语里，美国人经常把这两个混用。

Thank you all for your tips, here are three sentences I looked up in Longman Dictionary.

Even the dictionary did not offer further clarification, I agreed on your explanation.

The police compared the suspect's fingerprints with those found at the crime scene.

Edwards has been compared with former Giants coach Bill Parcells.

Davies' style of writing has been compared to Dickens'.

从我看美国主流杂志文章的感觉,ets因该不会考,要考也是用"compare to"肯定正确,而"compare with"还不能作为"比作""比为"用如只能说: "To be political right, one can not compare Bush to Hitler."
