whose指代funds。这里fund可译作基金会，members是基金会的members。想想当original associations were organized as limited life funds时，不是所有的原会员都会subscribe to limited life funds的。如果不subscribe to the funds，就不能pay, and draw money÷。所以whose只能指代funds。
拜托哪位牲口帮小弟翻译下这句话啊，我怎么看都觉得奇怪啊。还有whose这里在修饰什么东西啊？怎么没有就近修饰啊？

最初的buliding and loan associations 是以limited life funds的形式组织的，它们的成员每个月都向share subscirptions上面支付金钱，然后按序从funds里面取钱去偿还家庭的抵押贷款。

我认为这里then还是adv.修饰installing，与putting一样都是by的表动作的动名词宾语，then并非作为连词，因为后面没有谓语只是一个动名词短语。

我是这么理解：original building and loan associations 和 limited life funds 是一个东西，后者用来说明前者的性质，whose 指代前者或者后者不会在句子中引起歧义，所以没有必要彻底搞明白这一点。
我认为这里then还是adv.修饰installing，与putting一样都是by的表动作的动名词宾语，then并非作为连词，因为后面没有谓语只是一个动名词短语。
我也认为此列不合适，这里then仍是adv.不是连词，后面不是完整的句子

then的词性式adv，它的基本用法包括以下几种：
1.在那是（过去时）
I was unmarried then.
2.而且（与and连用作连词使用）
I had a week in Shanghai and then went to Beijing.
3.（与now ,sometimes连用）表示“一会儿...一会儿”
Now the weather is fine,then nasty.

觉得whose应该指代funds。跳跃指代毕竟少，大多数情况还是要就近指代的~~
尽管楼上前辈们说associations were organized as limited life funds表明associations和funds是一回事，指代那个无所谓，但是我现在在总结非限制性定语从句跳跃指代的情况，所以想弄清楚这里指代的是什么。
有没有哪位大侠已经总结过跳跃指代的问题了？能不能给我讲一下？？？
