Q41:

The first English settlers to establish a permanent colony in America did it not at Plymouth but along the shore of the James River west of Chesapeake Bay.

it not at Plymouth but

so not at Plymouth but

not at Plymouth but instead

not at Plymouth but did so

it not at Plymouth but rather

选B而不选A，是不是因为：establish是不定式结构修饰settler，did没法指代establish。所以用so指代to establish a permanent colony吗？

是didi it的用法错。请参考OG41和215题。

从句意上看来,so 是指to establish a permanent colony, 另外我还觉得有at..和along..的平行
