"a warm-blooded mammal’s " refers to a warm-blooded mammal’s specy.

These two sentences are two different case. In the sentence you cited, 'that resembling an ape's' describes 'a vocal tract', no problem

In our sentence, we need to compare, then we should compare the metabolism of dinosaur to the metabolism of .....

A is wrong, let's not consider the comparison, the sentence structure using like is wrong, because 'like....' can't be used here to describe the metabolism.

CDE中的those是指metabolisms吗？如果是那样的话，a warm-blooded mammal’s是不是应该改成a warm-blooded mammal，去掉后面的’s，我当时就这么想的，所以排除了CDE，而B又主谓不一致，排除了

在字典上查到一个例句，metabolism应该是单复数同型：

The dosage was geared down to a level which would work on the infected cells but not upset their metabolism

所以这个题目是B没错

metabolism,在牛津高阶英汉词典上，标的是：n ，应该是不可数名词了，应该单、复数同形，

那B，A 都正确啊？

如果两个句子可以相互对照, 那么metabolism为什么没有用that连接?

感觉两个句子的重心还是有区别的:

OG167强调的是Neanderthals had; 而这道题强调的是对比. 简单点, 根据后面修饰成分的分量, 这里的A选项也差一个that来引导修饰metabolism. 所以我认为A选项的结构是有问题的

做题的时候我选了B, 不过, B选项结构虽然优于A, 但是-----the metabolism...were more like a
warm-blooded mammal’s(metabolism)...很明显, 除了上面说道的单复数问题, 这里用the metabolism和 a metabolism进行对比是错误的, 尽管metabolism可以单复数通行, 可以跟随was或者were, 但是不能既跟were又去对比 a metabolism.

所以, 忍痛接受A

还是没有讨论出结果啊...到底是A还是B？

我本来选的B现在觉得A更好。

理由:

B. that the metabolism of many dinosaur species were more like a warm-blooded mammal's than (like) a cold-blooded reptile's.

我觉得除了metabolism的单复数问题外，比较结构里，通常类似与like这样的介词是不会省略的吧？

所以觉得这里少了一个 like

我个人觉得答案是c

首先， metabolism查了字典是不可数名词那么a metabolism肯定就不对了并且metabolism were这种说法也不对 a b e 就都排除了

但是metabolisms我觉得可以存在就像wines一样表示新陈代谢的种类（这个我从字典里无法考证，因为我手头就本牛津里面仅用英文解释了什么是m,连个造句都没。。。但可以参考下我百度出来的网站 http://www.doctoronline.org.cn/AllJournalArchive-16329915.html 这个标题就是 potential surful metabolisms...人家是做research essay的文章题目总不会弄错把。。种类之说看这里 http://hi.baidu.com/markrhy/blog/item/6f499326416d21168b82a117.html）

那么c就ok拉！those代表metabolisms 而mammal's 这个's是省略了spieciecs

d的话 contend后面应该要加that 才可以跟一句话吧？

总结下：
B. The metabolism假如是集合名词，那么用were是正确的，但是the metabolism more like a metabolism，逻辑有问题；假如为单数，那么用were就是错误的！
