hear sb doing比hear sb do更强调同时性;

表达时间状语时,during强调一段时间,while强调一点时间;

persuade sb to do / persuade sb into doing 没有什么大区别,前者强调do这个动作,后者强调处于一种doing的环境;前者更常用;

1)hear sb. doing和hear sb, do有什么区别?

2)during和while 有什么区别?

3)persuade sb to do sth. 和persuade sb. into doing sth,有什么区别?

有persuade sb. into doing sth的用法吗?

For many revisionist historians,Christopher Columbus has come to personify devastation and enslavement in the name of progress that has decimated native peoples of the Western Hemisphere.(nlhsz提供)

A. devastation and enslavement in the name of progress that has decimated native peoples of the Western Hemisphere
B. devastation and enslavement in the name of progress by which native peoples of the Western Hemisphere decimated
C. devastating and enslaving in the name of progress those native peoples of the Western Hemisphere which in the name of progress are decimated.
D. devastating and enslaving those native peoples of the western Hemisphere which in the name of progress are decimated.
E. the devastation and enslavement in the name of progress that have decimated the native peoples of the Western Hemisphere.

我选E。that从句应该是修饰the decastation and enslavement的。而介词短语in the name of progress是说明the devastation and enslavement的。
B不对。by which...

那谁是have的发出者, the devastation and enslavement in the name of progress that have ...

我觉得have的发起者是the devastation and enslavement.

in the name of progress是修饰the devastation and enslavement的.

至于the devastation and enslavement 和have之间,可能ETS这里把the devastation and enslavement看成了两者,所以后面谓语动词是复数.

I'd pick E too.  I think the most important thing here is the usage of idiom "the something that did something".  So "that have done blah blah" must be used to describe "the devastation and enslavement".

我选A, 因为“毁坏和奴役”只是借“发展”名义的其中一种行为,题目的意思是“发展”(含义比“毁坏和奴役”广泛)has decimated native peoples of the LACE>Western Hemisphere。
LACE>

因为我认为,has/have的主语应该是progress,前面in the name of... 。。的名义,that修饰progress,所以选A用has

in the name of 应该理解成 因为。。。
