选C,我想问一下形式主语的问题，A里的 it was possible to move 里的it 解释说是形式主语，理解为代词不行吗？正好指代的是locomotive阿。
怎么分辩是不是形式主语呢？

这道题里面没有形式主语。ABC里面的it都是指代 the steamlocomotive。

说一些我对形式主语的理解，希望对你有帮助。
首先，从语法上将，形式主语的产生，是因为真正的主语太长。
其次，形式主语结构，是特定的结构，如：
it's important that......
it's impossible that.....
it's hard to say that....
主语都是that之后的那个长句子，完整句。
也就是说，一个形式主语结构的句子，在意思上其实是个倒装，形式上不是，但意思上是，也就是说，能够正的回来，如上例：
....is important.
....=it,这就是所谓的形式主语，it相当于一个很长很长的完整句。
it很长，但不一定仅限于完整句，to do长结构也经常出现，如：
it's important for me to..., to...,and to.......

考点：
it的前面有单数名词，前面的句子不是完整句，那它是指代。
it后面有长结构，它有可能是形式主语，要看结构，是否符合形式主语结构，以及能否正的回来。
it在中间，前面有单数名词，后面有长结构，指代模糊看选项，里面去掉it换成某个n的就是答案
