我部分同意stoneren的观点, 实际上have difficulty in doing sth 是习惯用语之一. be difficult in doing sth 如果是对的, has made it difficult in tracing some Black inventions to their originators 的to do ...表目的状语也没有错呀? 除了这一点, 我还觉得有Black inventions 和 their black originators的区别.不同情况. black放在inventions前会不会有歧义呢?餐比较起来,还是觉得放在originators前比较好!
ETS的policy是prefer TO DO 结构。
另外be difficult to do.... is very idiomatic.
更重要的时候，made后面的it，通常用来代一个不定式，代一个介词短语(in doing sth)不合适。
另外，按照ETS的标准，即使很多Native English的出版物也到处是错，词典上也有错：

我觉得是不是Black originators ， Black inventions得问题，两个有区别吗
