1. A collection of 38 poems by Phillis Wheatley, a slave, was published in the 1770’s, the first book by a Black woman and it was only the second published by an American woman.

(E) only the second published by an American woman

觉得理解起来还是有点牵强。会不会是因为，c说的是：这是只被一位美国妇女发表的第二本书。而e中，说的是：唯一的被二次发表的一位美国妇女（的书）。但是如果e 这样翻译的话，the second published是作为一个整体，指那本被二次发表的书，和后面似乎有脱节的感觉。而如果不这样翻译的话，我觉得，e的意思和c 好像没有区别。

这个题，有点绕。请nn指导！谢谢！！！

only是表达强调的，所以C的强调部分为published by an American woman，而E的强调部分为the second published by an American woman，而强调对象的不同就存在句意的微弱差异；另：E中only the second published的结构细分为：only the second + published，其中the second后省略了多余的one，而published作过分定语修饰the second (book)。

那么，这么说e,c 只是强调的不同，那么c这种表达上语法有没有错误呢？如果错误在"one", 那去掉“one ”, 是不是c 就没错了。

首先，强调不同就意味着有问题，即便C去掉one，由于强调不同，而E又没有错误，我们还是认为C不是最佳答案。当然，作为一个单独的句子，C的表达可能并没有大问题，但是5个选项要作比较，A是作为基本参考选项。语法的考察并非要你找出语法上或逻辑上正确的表达，如果要求是这样的话，很多题的5个选项中都可能有好几个正确答案。
