much less: used to say that a greater thing is even less true, likely, or possible than the thing you have just mentioned;     And certainly not;   更不用说。其实就是let along或not to say的意思。

Roy Wilkins was among the last of a generation of civil rights activists who led the nation through decades of change so profound that many young Americans cannot imagine, much less remember, what segregation was like.

remember和 imagine平行。what segregation was like 是imagine和remember的宾语。

Roy Wilkins was among the last of a generation of civil rights activists who led the nation through decades of change so profound that

请分析前面的结构led the nation through decades of change so profound that?

I falsely depended on a gratuitous assumption that it is the “much less” that confused you.

Roy Wilkins was among the last of a generation of civil rights activists (who led the nation through decades of change so profound that many young Americans cannot imagine, much less remember, what segregation was like.

可以理解成who led the nation through decades of change (that was)so profound that many young Americans cannot imagine, much less remember,也就是 The change was so profound that many young Americans cannot imagine (and remember )what segregation was like.
